What is Integrative Mental Health (IMH)?
As mentioned in my “about me” section, I recently obtained a Certification as an Integrative Mental Health Provider. IMH is addressing mental health from a holistic practice: body, mind and soul. It empowers you to take charge of your wellbeing by providing education regarding the impact of food, movement and sleep on your body and brain, and informing you of the various complementary and/or alternative treatment methods available to you. IMH also acknowledges that spirituality is a key piece to true wellness, and offers ways for you to meet your own spiritual needs. It is meant to be used as a complement to other therapeutic modalities, including psychiatry. More and more people are turning to alternative or complementary modalities of care as they grow frustrated or discouraged with their current treatment plans. Even medical doctors and psychiatrists are starting to recommend at least one complementary health approach (53.1%)! If you are looking for additional methods to achieve abundant wellness, IMH may be worth incorporating into your therapy sessions.
